This is a wonderful hospital ... the nurses are especially kind and caring. My loved one received excellent care for an extremely complicated condition. The building is lovely as well with views of the Texas Hill Country, soothing artwork and a peaceful chapel.
I walked into the ER on a Saturday afternoon. There was only one other person in the waiting room. I was wheeled back after the very brief check-in. It was so fast, I didnt have time to sit down. A nice ER nurse appeared immediately in my room/cubby. She took my history and then the doctor came in within minutes. I had a few test done quickly by really pleasant staff members. I had about an hour wait to get the test results back but that was really the only wait I had. Everything thankfully was normal. I didnt have a blood clot in my leg. I was released and and all the paperwork completed before I left the ER. It was amazing. Everyone there seemed happy and appeared to enjoy their work. I am from NC and I have been to emergency rooms before but I have never been in and out so quickly or had anywhere near the experience I had in Kyle. Hats off to Seton for doing it right. Wish more hospitals would follow their lead.
There are more efficient options in this area. I had a back injury that required an ambulance one night a few months ago. Ended up just being a pulled muscle that wouldn't relax. I walked out of the ER a couple hours later. My complaints: Only one person in the ER greeted us with their name. I was charged over $6000 for basically an ambulance ride and some pain meds. (Just the ER room was $3000) Current insurance is a waste so all of this was out of pocket. Praises: The ambulance crew were very courteous.
had Gall Bladder surgery in April. The Doctors, Nurses and medical staff were truly outstanding. The business end is so substandard that it actually effects your recovery and health. With 3 weeks notice Seton did not have enough time to check with my insurance and demanded I pay $2925 on the day of surgery when I checked in, before I could receive medical care. My insurance co pay was actually $1113.53. Since then I have made 9 phone calls and spoken to 2 supervisors in the billing department trying to get a refund. BTW the local number you dial is actually in MI. I have been told anything and everything in order to mollify me and get me off the phone. In the mean time I have outstanding bills with my Seton doctor and other service providers who email, text, and call trying to get their payment and I am currently in collections on 2 account. All that would be more than covered by the refund being held hostage by Seton. I am left to conclude that this run around is not isolated but actual policy in order to hold on to my money as long as possible and drive my health to the point of requiring additional medical care that they can charge for in an effort to eat up the pending refund with additional billing.
Hate to make this a racial issue but the majority of the Caucasian nurses are rude. We have taken my brother twice for mental health related issues (voluntarily and involuntarily) and both times they have treated my family as if our situation is a joke and we are a hindrance. I understand that it is not easy working in a hospital and you might not have the right resources to handle these situations but show some empathy and don't be rude when people are simply asking for information.
